Guinea Pigs sign up for spam
A TEAM of 50 victims working for McAfee is planning to sign up for every spam they get sent over the next three weeks.
The 'Super Spam Me', experiment will try to prove if spam can actually deliver anything other than a bad trojan.
The 50 guinea pigs will get unprotected laptops and fresh e-mail addresses and be allowed to spend £250 on what ever the spammers offer.
In the first week, volunteers will sign up for any 'free amazing offer' they come across, the week after they have to agree to thousands of 'free music downloads'. Week three they will buy into any get rich schemes before trying to buy drugs online.
The whole idea is the wheeze of Dave DeWalt, who said that the big idea is that it will show that getting 30 days of spam in your inbox is bad for you.
We would have thought that the experiment would be rather short as within five minutes the guinea pigs would have downloaded most of the viruses going on their unprotected laptops. µ
