GAME MAKER Electronic Arts has bought the outfit behind the Battlefield game franchise.

According to PC.ing.com, Digital Illusions CE, better known by the acronym Dice, has been a target for EA since November 2004. However shareholders apparently said 'no Dice'.

All that changed in March when the two companies reached an agreement involving large amounts of cash.

Dice is famous for its Battlefield 1942 game which was released in 2002 Battlefield 2142 scheduled to be released next month. A spokeDice said that being part of the EA studio team was a great step forward that will help it continue to deliver new games and new franchises to Dice fans.

Under the deal, Dice CEO Patrick Soderlund will become an EA Studio general manager and rule over his old team. The team will continue in their roles in Stockholm.
