Microsoft has amusing dig at iPhone

Will fail because it is 'closed'
Tuesday, 24 April 2007, 07:44
APPLE'S iPhone will fail because it is a 'closed device' according to a bigwig working for the proprietary software expert Microsoft.

While the irony of the statement will not be lost on those who try to work with what must also be a highly unsuccessful Windows or who own Vole's iPod clone the Zune, it seems that the comments are all Office related.

Microsoft's Asia-Pacific head of smartphone strategy Chris Sorenson told ZD hacks down under that the iPhone is doomed because it does not support Vole's Office. Sorenson said that while the iPhone is a great music phone with a good interface, it will fail because you cannot install applications on, and there's no support for Office documents.

This kills off the iPhone as a business tool, where it competes with the well entrenched Windows Mobile system, and limits it to the consumer market, he claimed. And there's more here.
