UK forces barred from bogging

Atten-shun, mice at ease

MEMBERS OF the UK military have been told to quit communicating by blogs, multiplayer games and SMS except in controlled circumstances, according to a scoop in The Manchester Grauniad this morning.

A Ministry of Defence document sent out last week said the bar covered "all public speaking, writing or other communications, including via the internet and other sharing technologies, on issues arising from an individual's official business or experience, whether on-duty, off-duty or in spare time".

Sounds pretty conclusive and inclusive, don't it?

The Guardian also noted that the restrictions has caused a ruckus on the wonderfully named arsse, also known as the British Army Rumour Service.

I shouldn't worry too much if I were the MoD. A lot of the information that has been disseminated by military "experts" recently has been pretty duff. And surely, in a democratic country like the UK, the MoD isn't worried about people disclosing how they are risking their lives because of dodgy equipment and iffy strategies. ยต
