Geforce 7800 GTX 512 finally surfacing

World-wide availability is a tad too late
Tue Jan 24 2006, 12:22
WE FINALLY got some good news about Nvidia's Geforce 7800 GTX 512. It looks like it is starting to become available. We noticed the first signs last Wednesday as SCAN computer in the UK managed to have some MSI and Asus 7800 GTX 512 cards in stock.

Now, the situation is getting better, as Nvidia finally has some more chips to ship. Some UK etailers have some of the cards and you should be able to buy them in one of the eshops. Here's one.

So far in the USA, the cards are with system builders only. So you have to buy one of the nice Alienware, Voodoo PC, Falcon NW or Velocity Micro PCs to get one. Etailers will get some cards in this week. This is what Nvidia has told us so it should be true, right? Once Newegg gets its cards in stock, and that should happen by the middle of this week - let's say tomorrow - we expect you should have to pay $749.00 for the BFG card.

Germans are little bit luckier as they can get the cards in etail. Our readers there can pick up some cards in ARLT. Here is the link for Gainward card and the same shop has EVGA as well. You have to pay as much as Nvidia's suggested €649. Austrians should be able to get this card by the end of the week and Ditech.at the store very close to our INQ labs Vienna will be selling it for €725.99.

Italians can get the card at one of the few etailers stores. You have to pay saucy €799 for it but you can get it. Here is the link.

Well, you get the picture now. The only problem is that X1900 XTX is now available and it is faster than the Geforce 7800 GTX 512. µ
