HP CLAIMS it has recycled more than 250 million tons of hardware and print cartridges.

The ink maker enthuses that it has recycled more than double the weight of the Titanic although it did not say if that was loaded or unloaded with annoying spotty yank actors.

In addition, HP claimed to have recycled more than 65 million pounds of hardware by refurbishing and sticking it back on the shelves. This is 30 per cent more than 2006.

HP originally wanted to recycle a billion pounds of electronics and thought it might take until 2008 to do so. However it managed its target in July 2007. µ

Wonder how much was dumped as garbage for comparison...

Everyone is talking "We've recycled X amount" and it always makes me wondering how many tons of garbage was there to begin with. If you recycle 1t out of 2t and increase to recycle 2t out of 10t, you should have stopped recycling! Rather than "recycling" you should take care your products don't need to be recycled in the first place!
