T-Online boss chucks in the towel

Deutsche Telekom scares him off
Fri Jun 02 2006, 17:07
A FEW MOMENTS after a judge cleared the way for Europe's largest ISP to be taken over by Deutsche Telekom, T-Online's CEO threw in the towel.

No official reason has been given for Rainer Beaujean's resignation. Most of the people opposed to the take-over had been T-Online's minority shareholders.

The German telco giant is the T-Online's majority shareholder after spinning it off and retaining a 74 percent stake. After a judge said the shareholders could not stop it, Beaujean's resignation press release was sent to the media.

A spokesperson for T-Online said it was "by mutual agreement" and would not say more.

Chief Financial Officer Jens Becker is going to take over the reigns on an interim basis. µ
