Coolermaster shows off

CeBIT 2008 Passive CPU heatsinks and $1,000 cases

COOLERMASTER IS ALWAYS a font of new designs and features, and this time around, they did not disappoint. From heatsinks to $1000 cases, they had it all.

Coolermaster Cosmos S case

The first thing I was shown at CeBIT was the Cosmos S case. It is a clean looking case with all the in vogue features. Tool free everything, 3 fans on top, 3 on the front, and a 120mm side fan blow 'enough' air through, and there are 7 front mounted 5.25" bays to go along with the 3.5" one. One really nice touch is the top and bottom rails. Not only can you pick it up with them, but they are arranged so the case will sit on the side cleanly. You don't see that often.

Coolermaster Ultimate 1100W

From there, it was on to power supplies, topped off with the Ultimate 1100W. This is an 88% efficient PSU with full Skulltrail (2 8-pin mobo connectors) support and 6 PCIe GPU headers. Not bad.

They also have a more conventional 1250W Realpower Pro and a less conventional Silent Pro line. The Silent parts are available in 500/600/700W configs, but they have only one 12V rail. Internally, there are copper and aluminum heatsinks and a 135mm fan. One of the nicest touches though is they have rubber mounts along all the edges to keep vibration down. This is a great idea.

Coolermaster Hyper Z600

It wouldn't be Coolermaster without monster heatsinks, and they had several of those as well. The Hyper Z600 is kind of unique because it is passive. Yes, it is larger than many apartments, but it should cool most CPUs without a fan. If it doesn't, the Z600 also has brackets for standard fans.

If you can trade size for fan noise, the V8 is for you. It has four radiators sandwiching a fan, and 8 heatpipes running through it. It will end up costing $60-70, but if you want to be sure, this should ease your mind.

Last up we have the really high end parts, the CSX case line. They are all hand painted, and each one is unique. They can be similar to each other, but not the same, and at $1000 per unit, your wishes are pretty much their bread and butter.

This is only the beginning of what Coolermaster was showing off. The stand was packed with everything from reasonable heatsinks to European overclockers on too little sleep. That said, there was little there not worth checking out. ยต

Ignore em

Ignore everyone above, it actually has the much snazzier and easier to remember name of RC-1100-KKN1-GP.
