Intel prevented from shipping "Xircom" LAN products

3Com injunction happens
Fri Jul 26 2002, 20:38
A COURT CASE launched against the Xircom range of LAN and modem cards which Intel now owns has resulted in the chip giant being prevented from shipping cards in the US, with effect from yesterday.

Silicon Strategies said today that 3Com had alleged infringement of patents on Xircom products and a judge granted the firm an injunction to stop Intel selling around 26 of those products in the US.

According to the wire, the injunction will remain in force until a final settlement is reached.

As far as we are aware, the injunction does not apply to Intel's "Xircom" products outside the US. Intel has, so far, not made a statement on the ruling by the judge.

Products covered by the injunction include the Realport and Realport 2 families.
