Released on bail
Fri Apr 13 2007, 13:18
TWO SENIOR BENQ executives were charged with insider trading by Taiwanese prosecutors but released on bail.

Chairman Lee Kun-yao and president Sheaffer Lee were released on Wednesday on sureties of NT$15 million and NT10 million respectively.

The Taipei Times reported a Taoyuan procescur as saying that they had discovered fresh evidence after interviewing the pair.

Benq has denied any improper share dealings but until a decision is made on the case, both will be unable to leave Taiwan. Lee Kun-yao is believed to have been closely associated with the ill-starred acquisition of Siemens' mobile phone division, which ended in tears last September. µ
