Given that one million people showed an interest, that's 400,000 potential churners - or people who would consider changing their network operator.
So the US mobile operator has decided to capitalise on this information and has reportedly singed up 2,000 extra staff for its 1,800 stores. The jobs are temporary and have mainly gone to students.
Meanwhile the news has leaked out that there will be a dedicated Youtube button on the Iphone's home screen.
The web site says that when users find a video that they want to send their friends, the Iphone can create an email with the link in it. It doesn't say how easy it will be to upload videos created with the Iphone.
The revelation has been backed up by newly released photos of the Iphone on the official web site. The handset clearly sports 12 main icons.
Going back to the earliest reports on Apple's smartphone such as on Mobile Whack here, it's possible to see that there were formerly onto 11 icons.
Another curious point is that the old pictured phone clearly isn't displaying the time as 9:42, something which has wound up lots of Apple fans.
It's obvious that when a fan pointed out all pics were stuck at 9:42, Apple's hype machine decided to take advantage.
While the phones go on sale via both AT&T stores and Apple's web site simultaneously, it's not clear how the web models will get provisioned. Getting AT&T to activate the phone might prove to be an interesting experience.
Especially if the company hasn't thought to hire an extra 2,000 hands for its call centres. µ
