AMD spec promises better software parallelism

Speed up your apps, p'rapps
Tuesday, 14 August 2007, 10:51
CHIP FIRM AMD said it has released a spec which will improve software app performance.

The spec, which the marchitecture boys call "Light Weight Profiling", takes advantage of hardware extensions in multiple core processors, said AMD.

The specification is available in PDF form, here.

If you want light reading on your summer holiday on the beaches of Europe, this stuff probably won't fit the bill. But if you're a software developer and parallelism makes your pulse beat faster and puts roses in your cheeks, AMD wants to hear from you. ยต
