Apple to grab notebook share - report

Apple plus Intel Core gives others the pip
Mon Dec 19 2005, 07:05
A STUDY by a market research firm claimed that Apple is likely to hop over notebook competitors next year, with its share jumping because of new introductions.

The report, from Topology, and quoted in the Taipei Times said Apple will ship 3.27 million notebooks next year.

That's because the firm is likely to show off stylish looking machines that will appeal to female users. But even though sales for Apple may rise by 42 per cent, it won't be enough to shift the top five manufacturers including HP, Acer, and Lenovo. The report said Dell and Toshiba will suffer from a decline in market share next year.

Apple is widely expected to unveil machines using new chips from Intel, to be known as Core, a fact that surely cannot be a complete coincidence. More here. µ
