Spammer infects Google Search Index

Claims Watchdog
Mon Oct 01 2007, 16:27

A GOOGLE watchdog site has barked the claim that the search engine has been hacked by a spammer.

The Google Watchdog says here that the spammer wormed their way into the Google index without being caught. And suddenly some searches began returning a large number of Chinese sites.

These sites are often nicked content from legitimate US websites but the legitimate sites are being ranked below the scammed ones.

When a punter clicks on one of the .cn sites they are sent to an entirely different page which attempts to install one or more pieces of malware on the user's computer.

The .cn sites do not appear to be hosted anywhere so it is not clear how they got onto the Google rankings.

The Google Watchdog whines suggestively that the the faked sites are redirecting the Googlebot to a location where content can be indexed, while at the same time recognising normal users and redirecting them to a site that includes the malware.

Having a snoop around, it appears that there are all sorts of theories as to how the spammer might have managed it. These range from an inside job to using BotNets 'clicking' as independent IP addresses links that boost their page rank.

No word from Google yet. µ

You're kidding

Don't ban china.

You got foreigners like me already suffering living inside China due to the "GREAT FIREWALL OF CHINA."

Now if you ban me, I really will have access to nothing at all.

Sad.

Indeed.

*sob*

Ban China

The Chinese government: My firewall log has been full of port scanning Chinese IP addresses since the day I fucking turned it on. Has anything good come from this Totalitarian regime since 1200? Was Ghengis Khan the best contribution to the planet China ever had? (Ghengis was honorable - his later successor Tamerlaine was the freakish murderer). Are China and N Korea still bitter about that WW2 thing and the Japanese occupation? Cmon. You bet they are! The poor people of China are meek little chickens that know only one game: 'follow the leader'. Its time for another revolution against Chinese government corruption and absolute power.

Prediction: In 2009 - china-iran guns for oil trade agreement takes Iranian oil completely off the market. The rest of MENA (mid east n africa) follows with similar arms for oil deals from N Korea and China. In 2013 all fucking hell breaks loose when the RMB floats and banks come to Jesus on the rampant common culture of under the table loans to fund under the table non state owned businesses.

Stupid sodding INQ: Google dont need you or the watchdog to help them find the spamming corrupt-to-the-core assholes. The Chinese government is waging a fucking war against the west. HONEYPOT those beeyatches and hunt them down like dogs or just BAN ALL OF CHINA FROM ACCESS TO WESTERN DOMAINS!! lol

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
