Nokia enters iPod war

Ugly duckling dips toe in water

THE MAKER of mobile phones known as Nokia is trying to enter the iPod wars and with a pretty ugly offering.

According to Tech Digest, Nokia's Tommi Mustonen is pitching its nSeries handsets as multimedia computers and not mobile phones.

However, a quick look at the spec, there is not a hell of a lot to offer the iPod or phone crowd which they could not already get.

True, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the N-Series handsets so that people can use their normal headphones on the things and there is an FM radio.

But these are the sorts of things that have been on mobile phones for ages and punters have still stayed away in droves. The other problem is that the N-Series has a face that only a mother can love. It looks like someone has taken a dial from an iPod, the colour scheme of a Zone and melted it with an iron.

Pictures and more here. µ
