Los Angeles: master/slave drives are politically incorrect

Urban moths of our time

OVER AT Reason there's a report that Los Angeles, because of its politically correct stance, has sent a letter out to its contractors deeming which and which not terms they use.

It prints a letter purporting to be from an official which rules that manufacturers labelling equipment using the terms Master/Slave is not acceptable identification.

That's based on the cultural diversity and sensitivity of Los Angeles County, the purported letter says.

Master/Slave is ordinarily used by the industry to describe separate hard drives in a PC.

But, let's face it, the PC industry is driven by some pretty, or perhaps not exactly pretty, but certainly unreconstructed alpha males, in our experience. Just look at Charlie, who's been messing with our Britchicks! µ
