INTEL plans to kill its i865G chipset by June and will replace it with a new one. Intel will continue using 946GZ, GT and 946G integrated chipsets until Q3. After the third quarter it will launch the G31.

G31 is a chipset with full support for Vista Aero Glass. It will start as the Intel "Essential" line of chipsets and motherboard and later it will drop to Intel's "Value" line in Q1 2008.

The G31 supports FSB 1066 and DDR2 800 memory and it works with ICH7 or ICH7DH south bridge chips.

It will support Wolfdale dual core 45 nanometre CPUs, but not the quad core "Yorkfield". The Wolfdale launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2008. It seems that Intel is getting very aggressive on the chipset side. µ
