AMD formalises Hammer speeds... but sshhh... sheesh!

THE GUYS at AMD Zone say they know the speeds that AMD is introducing its Athlon 64 (Clawhammer) and Opteron (Sledgehammer) for the separate launches in March and April next year. But they ain't saying. Sheesh. We do know, from separate sources, that AMD will launch the Hammerish chips with something like a dozen partners and they're not all building on Newisys technology.

Frosty Tech claims here that the ATI R300 package has thermal problems. Or it may not. It depends. There doesn't seem to be a problem at stock speeds. But there might be if you're engaging in rough overclocking.

Ecch Xbit Labs... quit the pop ups, eh? Here's an article comparing IDE RAID and SCSI, and asking which will win.

At Ace's Hardware they take a swiftish gander at the Dual 1.25GHz PowerMac G4.
