REGULAR READERS of the INQUIRER will know we like to make stuff up. No, not stories of course - well, not often - but words, nicknames, labels, that sort of thing.

But, as far as we know, we're the only news site in the world to call Microsoft the Vole. In fact, we're not entirely sure ourselves why we do it, though it may have been inspired by the fact the vole family is generically known as Microtus; the meadow vole, for example is known as Microtus pennsylvanicus.

Anyhow, it seems the appellation has finally caught on. Indeed, news sites as far away as Pakistan have begun calling Microsoft the Vole as well, or so it seems.

For, in this story, the Pakistan Tribune has taken to referring to "Volish plans".

It says of Microsoft's sender ID scheme: "Vole's 'get tough' act has the backing of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), which sees it as a way of purging the e-cowboys from the world wide wibble web."

Oh, they're using wibble too. Wasn't that one of ours?

Hang on. Doesn't the whole story seem spookily similar to this one here?
