Athlon 64 prices slump in Japan

Pre-emptive strikes
Sun Jul 25 2004, 09:51
AS WE SUGGESTED yesterday, AMD is making a pre-emptive strike against Intel on the desktop pricing front.

This page at Akiba PC Hotline gives an indication of the changes out there in Akihabara, Tokyo, in pictures as well as Japanese words.

The text says that the 3700+ dropped by around ¥24,000 and currently stands at ¥58,700 (~$530).

There are other price drops on a number of different CPUs.

As the text says, you wouldn't be wrong thinking that AMD is trying to shift people away from the old lamps and onto new ones. µ
