Vole buys desktop visualisation firm Kidaro

Anything to trick people into getting Vista
Wed Mar 12 2008, 18:20

THE MIGHTY VOLE has bought Israeli desktop visualisation firm Kidaro.

Microsoft said Kidaro’s technology would provide tools for businesses allowing them to manage their collection of virtual machines. This would be to the Vole’s advantage because it would, supposedly, make it a little bit less painful for businesses to deal with application compatibility challenges, meaning that more of them would adopt its Vista sooner.

As well as offering tools for setting up and controlling virtual machines, Kidaro's technology makes virtual machines seem like they’re just part of a standard computer desktop . The Vole is planning on incorporating this technology in its “Desktop Optimization Pack”.

Kidaro, which was founded in 2004 had previously managed to raise $14 million in funding and counts 35 employees. Israeli business news outlet Globes reckons Mightysoft coughed up $100 million for its latest acquisition.

Two weeks ago, it also snaffleed up Israeli ad-targeting technology company YaData for between $20-30 million. µ
