IN A stunning lack of awareness about what Microsoft users associate with blue screens, it and and Fiat are marketing motoring software called Blue&Me.

Blue&Me is based on Windows Mobile for Automotive and will be shown off at the 2006 Geneva Motorshow later this month.

The voice-activated system, will allow users to use any Bluetooth-based mobile phone without removing hands from the steering wheel. It is integrated with steering wheel control buttons and information on the dashboard display. It will even read your SMS messages and play your music for you.

The system will be available on new Fiat and Alfa Romeo cars as well as on Fiat Light Commercial Vehicles. The Grande Punto, Alfa Romeo 159, 159 Sportwagon, Brera and Spider will be equipped this from the middle of this year, followed by the other models of Fiat Auto's product range.
