Speed comes at a price - Bob Colwell, former chief architect at Intel
Aiming at becoming the leading US based content provider, Kargo has followed the typical American model of selling content to mobile phone users through a monthly subscription rather than by Premium Rate SMS (text).
Kargo has even filed a patent on its
system of rolling over unused credits. The new service follows on from its existing Fever storefront which has been one
of the most popular Cingular Wireless destinations since it launched back in 2004.
Along with the usual stuff of games and MP3 ringtones, Kargo is offering video ringtones plus what it calls 'celebrity voicetones'. The company also offers 'master tones' but doesn't explain what they are. Fortunately for Marley fans, Kargo already has close relationships with the other US carriers so they won't have to consider switching networks.
As Bob would say, if you ain't on Cingular or T-Mobile right now, "No woman, no cry." ยต
