US ambassador to the EU was former Microsoft lobbyist

Gentle persuasion

IF THE EUROPEAN UNION is wondering why its US ambassador has such an interest in telling them to leave Microsoft alone, it might need to remember his past.

Before C. Boyden Gray was named as George Bush's number one person in Europe, he was a lawyer lobbying on behalf of Microsoft. His job was to get Vole off its anti-trust hook with the US government.

Hacks around that time still remember his enthusiastic briefings about how the government should 'settle' with Vole rather than making an example of it, like the EU did.

Gray's ties to Vole did not stop when he packed his bags to go to Europe either. He is the co-chairman of the conservative lobby group Citizens for a Sound Economy. CSE also received a lot of cash from Microsoft when it was in its anti-trust war with the Department of Justice. µ
