HOW LUCKY that on of the first stands, the INQ encountered today - run by the UK Trade & Investment - was hosting Chargebox.

The company was show-casing the Chargebox Lite which is a new version of its battery charging station.

Basically, the machine has a number of lockers into which you can plug a whole host of popular mobile devices. The list not covers only most popular mobile phones but Ipods, PSPs, Nintendo DS and the infamous Iphone, too.

While the handset is charging it is also possible for the Chragebox to reply to text messages giving its location or network. The idea is that this will help to aid communication with those using it.
That is the 16 to 30 year old age group.

The aim with this Lite version is either to recharge the batteries for free or to allow payment via a token.

Company business development director, Jane Young, told the INQ that she has been in touch with Orange about doing the Glastonbury festival. However, to meet the Glasto ethos, Chargebox may have to look at solar or wind power!

As you may have guessed, the INQ s handset battery was empty when we got here. µ
