Nvidia's driver now looks like rival ATI's

Only worse

IT'S STRANGE that no-one wrote about this before but, since Nvidia introduced its Control Panel, as it wants to call its new driver, you could see that the interface is a pale copy of ATI's catalyst centre.

I did User Interface Design course back at school and trust me, whoever designed Nvidia's Catalyst Control Panel would most certainly fail the course as it doesn't stick to the user interface design rules.

It's not intuitive, some options are well hidden but I have to admit that it is faster than ATI Catalyst control centre. Apart from that it's a pale copy of ATI's work.

It looks far too Windowish and it's not that pretty after all. It does stuff such as FSAA and Aniso previewing something that ATI catalyst control centre was doing for more than a year now.

ATI was heavily criticised for its Catalyst Control Centre. One of the guys that led the driver team, Terry Makedon, told us more than year ago that this is how Microsoft wants you to make drivers for Longhorn, now known as Vista.

You simply don't have a choice and it's not coincidence that Nvidia vista beta 2 driver looks exactly like its Windows XP Control Centre driver. For the sake of humanity, you can disable Nvidia's Control Centre and you can enjoy the old driver but just in Windows XP.

Here is a couple of pictures to illustrate our claims.
