US bookies taking Internet bets on Iraq-US war

It will never happen in Blighty, William Hill says
Sun Dec 08 2002, 15:00
A REPRESENTATIVE of UK bookies William Hill said on BBC Radio 4 this morning that odds were being offered on a war between Iraq and US on Internet sites in the States.

But Graham Sharpe, who works for the British bookies, said odds on this type of event were in questionable taste and his company would not offer odds on such an affair.

Sharpe did not say which gambling houses were offering the odds.

William Hill does take odd bets, but they're usually related to whether Britain will have a White Christmas or not.

He made his comment on Sunday morning news programme, Broadcasting House. The odds are that the US will go to war with Iraq. ยต
