If the reports are true, that would mean AMD is ahead of its own plans. At the end of last month, AMD executive Ben Anixter said that while silicon was running at the company, samples would not go out to its "infrastructure partners" - that is to say the big Taiwanese firms, until the next quarter.
If AMD is demonstrating Hammer, then we'd expect it to be showing it off to select customers.
Xbit Labs also reports that AMD will show Clawhammer to people at next month's CeBIT 2002 show in Hannover, Germany.
We'd think this is entirely possible - AMD often uses CeBIT to show off its latest developments.
Xbit Labs also says that the volume Clawhammers and Hammers will use a special HIS metal cooler which will also act as protection against ordinary damage.
Clawhammer is supposed to launch towards the end of this year and will be produced at the 3400+ speed, according to previous disclosures.
