ATI launches Radeon Xpress 200M

Integrated DirectX 9 chipset for PCIe notebooks

ATI SAYS it has introduced its Radeon Xpress 200M integrated chipset for Intel PCI Express notebooks

And it reckons its the fastest integrated platform for such portable PCs.

The DX9 chipset supports DDR2 memory up to 667 MHz and can be used PCIe notebooks sporting Intel Celeron, P or Pentium M chips.

ATi claims its new PowerPlay 5.0 power management routines in the chset can help cut graphics power consumption by up to 30 per cent by adjusting power on-the-fly.

NEC, Asus, Quanta, Compal, Wistron, Mitac and LG formed an ordlely queue to show off offerings sporting the new chipset. µ
