Sony wavers over Blu-ray intro

SONY HAS SET a date for the introduction of its first Blu-ray drives.

According to its Sonystyle site, the Blu-ray Disc PlayerBDP-S1 will be available "On or About August 15, 2006."

The drive is the first wave of Sony's strategy to sew up the media storage market with Blu-ray.

The second and crucial step will be the establishment of PS3 as king of the consoles.
