Child gymnast exposed by hacker

Olympics Underaged and winning medals... sheesh
Thursday, 21 August 2008, 09:48

CHINA'S DUAL GOLD MEDAL winning gymnast He Kexin is under aged and should have been banned from competing at the Olympics.

Stryde Hax, a consultant with Intrepidus – a security firm known for launching the first proactive anti-phishing service – used Google, Google China and the Chinese search engine Baidu and found He was born on January 1, 1994.

While Chinese mandarins deleted all the pages that prove this, Hax looked at the caches instead.

Kexin was part of the women's gymnastic team which won gold and then took an individual gold medal in the uneven bars at the Beijing Olympics. Since she was under 16 in the year the Olympics took place, she was not allowed to compete.

The Olympic body put the rules in place to avoid child exploitation. Kexin said her real age is 16, adding, "I don't care about what other people say, it's none of their business."

On his bog, Hax said that he does not care about the gymnastics age limit, or even really about whether fraud occurred.

He was more concerned about government Internet censorship and the act of removing evidence while at the same time claiming that the evidence is wrong. µ

Might be true, but the youngest competitor in these olympics is a 14 years old British lad...

Shame.

Shame to all the countries that violate rules to gain what. a "gold" medal?

Is it really worth sacrificing a nation's honor to gain such a small thing?

I hope the US doesn't do that.

I'm chinese and im not proud to be one anymore. GO USA

This is not news

What more can you expect from China? Some "issues" with human rights, including but not limited to Tibetians and Christians, and the Great Firewall of China to keep "bad information" from reaching the citizens.

Lying about the age of a contestant is a small offence.

But the Brits are legal because..

Age limits set by Federations for each sport. For Diving the age is 14 - and the British diver is legal. For Gymnastics - the age is 16 and the Chinese athelete in question is not. You can argue the gymnastics rules, the IOC did and settled on 16 in the year of competition as the cutoff after looking at the impact of success on the futures of Bela Karolyi's Romainian mini-mites like Nadia.

I see sending an underage standout to compete in gymnastics as less of a violation than using banned drugs to calm your heart for a shooting event. However, if China institutionalizes the practice, training cadres of underage competitors - who will have to live with a legacy of injuries, torn muscles and constrained development - then this crosses a line into abuse. For each super girl He that takes gold - there are likely hundreds that walk with nothing more than a limp for life.

Redfaced gov

Did Ch government “deleted” her family members, neighbors, school/classmates etc as well? Otherwise they will be “red-faced” forever…

He's allowed

"Might be true, but the youngest competitor in these olympics is a 14 years old British lad... "

He's allowed to for swimming. Gymnastics is different.

So instead got beaten by a Chinese Gymnast, we got beaten by an UNDER AGED Chinese gymnast. Dam our 18 year olds can't even compete with their 14 year olds anymore? Not to mention their 14 year olds can also beat us in Maths and science.

Now the big question is, what kind of loser would try to bring this up to make themselves feel worse?

@Joey

You just proved how stupid you really are. Let me educate you since you obviously don't know why China (cheaters) are using the youngest gymnasts they can find.

YOUNGER people are more flexible and agile giving them a huge advantage over older more mature competitors. Simple as that genius. I hope that wasn't to hard for you to understand but from the lack of your intellect it probably was.

Younger is more flexible

Joey,
You do understand why the Chinese are using younger children in their gymnastic events right? The younger you are the more flexible and agile you are. Think about it. Do you see the Chinese using 14 year olds on their soccer team? What about their Basketball team? No? Then that should have given you the answer as to why they are using underage children in their gymnastic competitions. The younger you are the better you are.

Of course younger means more flexibility, but it can also mean less strength for jumping or other kinds of moves. Over all there is probably no significant advantage for her.

Don't get me wrong, if she is underage, they should strip her medal away. The rule is the rule. But all those whining, moaning, b*tching, crying, complaining, rolling on the ground for the last 2 weeks on the internet over stuff like age or creative ways of medal ranking are just too much of a sour grape for my taste.

I mean come on, it's a big party. What kind of low-life loser would go to parties and whine from the beginning to the end? The ones who do were probably the ones who wouldn't get invited anyways.

My take on this is: F*** U, who ever cheated with age or drug, let's have fun.

who cares...

Let the children play. In China if you don't get Gold medal you get shot. Gymnastics is rigged, I only watch games that doesnt involve judging.. Phelps for president.

Younger Age has an Advantage?

For real? The last time I saw ... China had pretty much almost all the Men's Gymnastic gold ... and they're like ... 28 ... lols ...

(Killing every other comment with just a small paragraph aside) I'm wondering if they have to use possibly "underage" gymnasts because of China's mentality had produced a shortage of women ... Hence, right now the only good gymnasts happen to be these girls which they could find ....

none of our business?

hmmm, Ms He sounds like she is trying to pull a "Chelsea (Clinton)"-- "...it's none of your business..."-- well, dearie, it IS our business, when you are putting yourself voluntarily on the world stage, so to speak-- as it was with the Clintons-- and of course you should be stripped of your medal, for falsifying that you were of credible age for the event-- when in fact, you were NOT--

Weight class

I like the idea better where everything is based on weight classes.

Just as in boxing.

Becuase it almost like cheating to put a 85lbs person agains a person whos like 155lbs.

Just like how they put men and women in different classes. Weight is important too.

If they did that, aalot of the chinese competitors and other asians would be in their own class as a lot of them are very petiet compared to other nations. But then again everything would be more fair.

Its retarded when a 90-120lbs person wins gold over a 155lbs person in gymnastics. (oviously, it takes less muscle, thus less effort to keep a wee person in the air(
