BEIJING POLICE anime images will start popping up on web-wibblers' screen real estate in China starting September 1st, writes the Associated Press. The animated cartoon images will appear on web surfers' screens every half hour at 13 of China's leading web portals, and will stroll, ride motorbikes or drive across screens to remind Chinese Internet users that their web access is being constantly monitored. Beijing's Public Security Ministry reportedly says that all China servers registered with it will show the police anime figures by the end of the year. The AP story is here. µ
