Infineon to cut stake in memory firm Qimonda

Qimonda has got to go it alone

CHIP FIRM Infineon said it plans to significantly reduce its shares in Qimonda - its spun off unit which makes DRAM chips.

Infineon filed quarterly results recently which showed Qimonda was something of a drain on its own profitability.

Now it said it will divest its shares in Qimonda below 50 per cent and hopes to do that before its shareholder meeting in 2009. µ
