Big Blue warns users about Windows XP SP2

Don't download it!
Monday, 9 August 2004, 08:18
IBM is warning its users not to install Microsoft's much delayed Service Pack 2.

In an article headlined "To patch -- or not to patch" which was posted on its corporate intranet, IBM has warned its employees not to download SP2.

In the article, IBM's computer bods say that while the patch might be good news for other customers, the company's huge number of Web applications will need to be tested and modified to work correctly with SP2.

Currently it is still trying to do that.

IBM warned that some high profile, business-critical applications are known to conflict with SP2 and Big Blue will deploy a customised version of SP2 when it has worked these out. ยต
