FRIENDSTER HAS DEPLOYED Version 0.7 of Google's Open Social API. According to Google engineering director David Glazer, Friendster's launch of the API marked a "major milestone in the adoption and deployment of Open Social throughout the social web".

David Jones of Friendster concurred, noting that Open Social allowed developers to easily "build and distribute applications across multiple destination sites".

Friendster claims over 75 million registered users worldwide and is currently the number one social networking site in Asia with a reported 55 million users.

However, Friendster has only managed to snag third place in the US due to stiff competition from My Space and Face Book.
