Xbox 360 games to cost a bomb

And Perfect Dark Zero won't make the launch
Wednesday, 7 September 2005, 16:07
HANDS UP WHO in the audience would be surprised if we said that Microsoft was going to do its best to hike the price of videogames for the next generation of consoles?

Anyone?

Well then, at least this piece of information won't catch you off guard. The first official reports are coming in of retail prices for Xbox 360 videogames, and to cut a long story short we'll be going from paying around £34.99 for launch titles to £44.99 with the Xbox 360, according to Eurogamer.

The difference could be even more noticeable as this summer there was a massive price war that drove retail prices of videogames down to around £29.99, so depending on what your local retailers are charging Xbox 360 videogames look set to be between £5 and £15 more expensive than the current crop.

Meanwhile, Microsoft today announced that Perfect Dark Zero, which has been until now as close to the flagship title of the Xbox 360 as the console has had, will not be seen on launch in November but rather it will be ready in time for Giftmas. We can tell marketing folks at Xbox HQ are going to have to get their skates on and doll up some other game to take centre stage on launch. µ
