Orange launches bizarre publicity stunt

Luckily not called Secret Agent Orange
Mon Jul 10 2006, 08:14
USERS OF the Orange mobile network have been receiving bizarre messages by email and text inviting them to join a secret adventure called Project Orange. Which seems to involve travelling to the Nevada desert.

That's judging from the picture posted on the Orange UK web site. Luckily they didn't call it Secret Agent Orange.

Anyway, you'll have to get your skates on in order to sign up in time because the deadline is Noon July 10th - presumably UK time.

Apparently the project will require "160 square feet of polyvinyl chloride; 1800 feet of reinforced cable; 1600 cubic ft of oxygen; 200 people; 30 tents; four trucks; 20 buses; seven off-road vehicles; one motorbike; and a dog."

What's with the dog? Anyway, the whole thing will be filmed and broadcast on national television, as well as reaching an international audience on the internet.

The blurb actually says the eventual destination is in Europe, so perhaps they're going to use Spain rather than Nevada to save money. µ
