Nvidia pulls a Copperfield

Digital Life 2006 Ageia card vanishes
Sat Oct 14 2006, 13:25
FOLLOWING OUR EARLIER story about the Ageia card in the Nvidia booth, we understand that the phone calls were flying fast and furious over at NV HQ.

Apparently as a result of the story Biohazard Computers called up Nvidia and indicated its surprise to be featured on The INQ.

Strangely enough we had not mentioned the manufacturer in our first article, but I expect that it makes wonderful machines. So wonderful, in fact, that apparently Nvidia ordered up a top of the line Biohazard computer to run one of its marquee demos and it came with an Ageia Physx accelerator by default.

The problem was solved with the quick twist of a screwdriver. I stopped by the booth several times today to see if the card had been pulled, but as it was one of the main machines they were forced to leave the machine going until almost the end of the day at which time the offending card was removed.

Over at the Ageia booth they had plenty of machines running off Nvidia hardware. Seems like a tempest in a teapot to me. µ

Do you think the move was justified?
