Spies warn French officials about data theft

THE HOUSE OF COMMONS is to allow MPs to tote their Blackberrys into sessions, marking the arrival of bad manners in the mother of parliaments.

Electronic devices were banned by the Speaker after the 2005 election, the Times reported.

But they still won't be allowed to bring notebooks into the chamber. Before permission is granted for a Blackberry to be used by an honourable member, there will have to be a vote to approve the measure.

Meanwhile the French secret service has advised senior members of the cabinet not to use their gizmos when they assemble, the BBC said, because sensitive data might be appropriated by spies. µ
