FCC's Michael Powell offers free Wi-Fi access

LET'S HOPE that other government offices have heeded Tom Henderson's You've been Ripped" article a few weeks ago, where he reported that he discovered clandestine affairs, credit card numbers being used to pay for porn and the like at CeBIT US.

Because Michael Powell, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is inviting you to bring along your laptop computer and wireless modem when visiting the Commission's Washington, D.C. office.

He obviously thinks this Washington Post warning is a little overblown

The FCC says it is FCC is offering a free wi-fi service using the 802.11a and 802.11b protocols, as you can read here.

Intel will be proud of the FCC.

Michael Powell is related to Colin Powell. The latter's first name is for some inexplicable reason pronounced co-lin here in the UK, although every other Colin is pronounced collin. µ
