MTV to launch a 3D world

10tacle Studios and MTV Germany go MMO
Monday, 2 April 2007, 16:15
IT SEEMS THAT anybody who is somebody wants to get a piece of the MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) market, with MTV being the latest to come to the table.

Viacom Germany GmbH, owner of MTV Germany says it hired 10Tacle Studios AG to create and launch a "multi-user 3D online world with various brands and industrial property rights belonging to the music television station."

Inside this brilliantly articulated statement hides the plan to launch a world full of classic MTV content, lively 3D chat-rooms, on-line games, concerts and so on. It is still too early to say, but it seems that this one just might be an interesting one.

MTV will be in control of targeting group communication and editing the content, so it will be interesting to see how 10Tacle will handle the demands of MTV folk.

Nevertheless, both companies mean it seriously, since the contract has been signed for five years and includes extension options. At first, Germany, Austria and Switzerland are targeted, no doubt because language for the launch version is Deutsch. Other countries in Europe and Asia will get their share with planned international versions. ยต
