Epox goes for SIS Rambus board

Rambus lives!
Wednesday, 21 May 2003, 10:00
PEOPLE THINK RAMBUS IS dead but it's not dead, just perspiring.

People got seriously scared about the future of Rambus memory with Intel dealing dirt on DDR 400 chipsets flooding the market, and little i850e and i860 chipsets the only set of chips sailing near the dock of the bay.

Still, SIS sees the future in Rambus and therefore now aims for a four channel chipset featuring 32b RIMM 4200 Rambus. The south bridge that will match this marchitecture will be SIS 963 L and the board will feature FSB 800, AGP8X USB 2.0, IDE controllers, LAN and S-ATA.

This kind of board will be introduced by Epox by the end of the summer, or even earlier.

We will certainly be interested to see how this four channel Rambus board actually works. Let's face it, it's not marchitecture, it's architecture... ยต
