ALBATRON HAS ONE of the more interesting graphics cards of the day, a Blu-Ray decoder card called the Blue Ray Decoder Card.

It is an NV 8500 with all three ports capable of outputting HD content.

Let's be honest, this is not a gaming card, Nvidia PR aside, the 3D performance will not stun you no matter how hard it is spun. If Nvidia is being more honest this time about its video decoding capabilities, then this might be a very interesting proposition.

What it comes down to is Albatron marketing a low end product in a very different way. Most people don't know a BD from an HD-DVD, and how it relates to BDSM and DRM. This is a good marketing effort to differentiate them and make it easier for the consumer.

If you are tech savvy, you are not going to be buying an 8500, but if you are looking for something to make that Dell box under your desk play your movie, this might just be the ticket. No fine print needed, what it does for you is on the box. µ
