Intel BTX headed for the boondocks, report

Heat is off

HEXUS CLAIMS that Intel's BTX chassis standard is mostly headed for the gulag.

A news article there claims that Intel won't support BTX in 2007 except for existing SKUs (stock keeping units).

This would be, presumably, because its new microprocessors don't generate as much hot air as the old ones used to.

The article, here, reckons there's recently been a brain's trust between Chipzilla and its partners.

It also wonders whether a new chassis reference design will, phoenix-like, emerge from the ashes of BTX. µ
