Creative says "no" to FX5800 Ultra

Official word from exclusive launch partner
Fri Mar 14 2003, 12:35
WE WERE TOLD BY FRIENDS in the industry just a week back that Creative had decided to skip the Nvidia Geforce FX 5800 Ultra part. That's even though it was supposed to be one of the three exclusive launch partners in Europe.

But, as we managed to confirm this week, Creative officially changed its mind about the top end card. Creative did confirm that it will have the slower FX implementation but that it would rather skip the Geforce FX Ultra part.

One of the key elements was noise and we assume that delays, price and performance were definitely considered in this calculation. One thing is for sure, the quantities (un)available were not enough for them as they have a lot retail stockists.

The company might change its mind but at this time it won't launch it. µ
