Nvidia 8800 Ultra does the rounds

HW Roundup While Zune and iPod engage in slagging match
Wednesday, 2 May 2007, 19:47
JUST AS EXPECTED, a limited number of reviews for G80U hit the net today.

With Nvidia in strict control of samples, many sites found themselves on the rough end of the stick and did not end with that pretty 8800 Ultra.

So, in some sort of promiscuous disorder, you can find the review of this overpriced product at the following suspects sites: IT-Review.net, Legit Reviews, PC Perspective, Tech Report while Brent from HardOCP should earns the International Award for Honesty.

Truth to be told, this award would probably mean that Nvidia's PR department might skip those guys in next round of hardware launches. HardOCP put a hard stance about this product, and it will be interesting to see what will be the real availability of 8800 Ultra. Our stand is that this plan might backfire in a spectacular way on May 14th.

Tarinder finally got over that African hangover and managed to review Asus's AquaTank EN8800GTX. While the clock is extremely high, we have some reserves on the product, since it will essentially kill four slots. Also, what's up with water-cooling boards and loud coolers these days? AquaTank even features two fans, and that is a bit weird.

OCWorkBench published a preview of Jetway's nForce 650i SLI board a while ago, and now the time has come for complete review. If you are feeling that your backup collection is getting rather dull, and you do own a LightScribe capable DVD burner or plan to acquire one, you can check how would your media look like in this review by Disc-Info.

XSReviews tested Noiseblocker fans, which are known to be among the highest quality ones. Manufacturer shows off confidence with a three-year warranty, which is a neat "feature", given the fact that we have seen a lot of fans going noisy or just dying after two years of use (in some cases, even less).

BIOS Magazine tested thee Pentax DSmobile 600 scanner, and found the device rather interesting. Pentax is a known manufacture for great cameras, but it is hard to forgive that particular company for killing off some products that proved too good.

Bjorn3D reviewed Icy Dock MB448UR, a 2.5" IDE hard drive rack. Guys gave quite a spectacular description about this device, but at the end of the day, this is a removable hard drive enclosure and that's that. Revoltec got another outing with BurnOutPC.Com posting their views on Fightmouse.

XbitLabs tested the Asus AM604g Wireless ADSL2+ router and Abit IN9 32X-MAX motherboard. Abit really made a product that stands out thanks to only good D(V)RM in this world (DVRM is an acronym for Digital Voltage Regulation Module) or just - good bye to analogue distribution of power. On the other hand, yours truly wonders could this Asus be the solution for a problem named crappy T-Com IPTV modem/router (sadly, I am stuck on Kasda right now).

TheTechLounge pitched Apple's iPod versus Microsoft's own Zune players. The conclusion is, in all fairness to companies involved - as expected.
