Forum members pitch in money to save a life

The community for the humour website, one of the larger and more friendlier on the internet, was shocked when one of its more respected posters made a fundraiser thread for her sick husband.

User Nadine Haukland's thread, entitled "Kyle Kenyon Kidney Krusade," details her husband Kyle's struggle with kidney failure, and how he needs transplant surgery as soon as it is available. Unfortunately, they'll have to pay $12,000 in costs. So, to help pay for the surgery she's pleaded forum "goons" to pitch in and send whatever they can.

Remarkably, so far just under $5000 has been raised. Amazed by the generous turn of events, and kind words said by every one of the posters, Kyle's mother signed up to the forums. She was quoted as saying, under the alias 'hipchik353', "I am blown away. I cannot tear myself from the computer. Reading all this and seeing this thing evolve before my eyes is incredible."
