Dial-up close to dying a death

Three quarters of punters use broadband

DIAL UP is fast disappearing from the US market as more than 78 per cent of punters now have broadband connections.

According to a report from Nielsen/NetRatings the 78 per cent figure represents a jump from 65 percent last year.

Associated Press reports said that users were spending 33 per cent more time online. This is 35 hours for the month, compared with 26 hours and some change for dial-up. Broadband users also viewed twice as many Web pages.
