Games Convention grows as big as E3

Games Convention 2006 Thanks to the kids

ORGANISERS OF this year's Games Convention in Leipzig expected up to 200,000 visitors. According to these numbers, the most popular European gaming trade show was about to catch up the numbers that E3 usually reaches.

We just got the official numbers. There were 183,000 visitors and more than 2,600 journalists from 38 countries. That is one cool number. But there is a catch.

The number is right but the Germans will let people below the age of 18 years inside. The organiser divided the show in three areas, first one where children up to 12 years old can enter, second one where teenagers up to 16 are allowed and the rest of the show was for 18 or older.

But we often saw young kids - with guardians - wandering around the 18+ area. Kids as young as two to three had a chance to see the full-on sex and violence the new GTA, and they have to thank their irresponsible parents for that.

If you count the number of the 18+ visitors you would probably end up with half the number. But, hey, who are we to nit-pick?. µ
