Dell puts stop to PPC 2003 Axim systems

Finally bites bullet in face of PR catastrophe
Thursday, 17 July 2003, 13:57
THE AXIM PDA has been put on hold until Dell can fix problems with its performance.

As we originally reported last Friday, Windows Mobile 2003 on Axim PDAs caused a number of performance problems.

The firm at first denied there was any problem whatever with the devices, as we reported in our original story.

But after other news services followed up, the firm realised it was headed towards a PR disaster.

Yesterday, Dell finally decided to call a halt to the debacle, and will attempt to fix the problem, which it claims is due to firmware, and not to the OS itself. ยต
